Rarely does Girl Meets Dirt stray from orchard fruit, yet this straight-up tomato jam proves well worth the detour. This year’s batch features ruby-red Amish paste tomatoes from Maple Rock Farm on Orcas Island—outdoor grown, sun-ripened, and kissed by ocean breezes in Crow Valley—alongside beautiful heirlooms by Mama Bird on San Juan Island.

The season’s blend also includes lauded dry-farmed Early Girl tomatoes from Dirty Girl Produce, resulting in a combination that’s nothing short of inspired. Their natural sweetness is gently coaxed forward with organic cane sugar, bright curls of organic lemon zest, and a finishing pinch of San Juan Sea Salt.

For the uninitiated, tomato jam is a delightful revelation. Exceptional with cheese of every persuasion, and especially memorable tucked into a proper ham sandwich.
